Wednesdays, 6 - 9 PM
April 8 - May 13
Class Size Max: 8
This 6-week course guides students through the development of a cohesive photographic body of work. Through weekly critiques, sequencing and editing exercises, and discussions around concept-building, students will learn how to refine their ideas and strengthen their visual voice. Topics will include practical strategies for sustaining a long-term project, organizing images, visual cohesion and narrative, and understanding how photographs communicate with one another. This course is open to artists of all levels who are interested in building a photographic project and gaining confidence in discussing and critiquing work. Students should come to class with work ready for discussion- whether that be an idea accompanied by a few images, a work in progress, or past projects that need refinement. By the end of the course, students will leave with the beginnings of a focused, edited body of work and tools that they can continue to apply to their practice.
